Humour or humor (see American and British English spelling differences) is the tendency of particular cognitive experiences to provoke laughter and provide amusement. Many theories exist about what humour is and what social function it serves. People of all ages and cultures respond to humour. The majority of people are able to be amused, to laugh or smile at something funny, and thus they are considered to have a "sense of humour." The term derives from the humoral medicine of the ancient Greeks, which stated that a mix of fluids known as humours (Greek: χυμός, chymos, literally juice or sap; metaphorically, flavour) controlled human health and emotion. A sense of humour is the ability to experience humour, although the extent to which an individual will find something humorous depends on a host of variables, including geographical location, culture, maturity, level of education, intelligence, and context. For example, young children may possibly favour slapstick, such as Punch and Judy puppet shows or cartoons (e.g., Tom and Jerry). Satire may rely more on understanding the target of the humour, and thus tends to appeal to more mature audiences. Nonsatirical humour can be specifically termed "recreational drollery." GNU Free Documentation License What makes the vitreous humor in your eyeball? Q. I am doing a report on the eye, and I need to know what cells make the virtreous humor in the eyeball, and then I need to know what nerve innervates those cells in the eye. Thanks for the help. I am not looking for the composition of the vitreous humor, rather the cells that literally make it (secrete in some form or another). I understand that is is not made of cells. I am trying to finish a report, and I have no idea where to find this information. Thanks for your help. Asked by einstein_15650 - Mon Sep 18 20:44:53 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. The vitreous humor is not made up of cells; it is 99% water and the remaining 1% is mainly salts, sugars, phagocytes, and collagen fibers. The optic nerve (cranial nerve II) innervates the sensory portion of the eye. The muscles that move the eye are controlled by the oculomotor nerve (cranial nerve III), the trochlear nerve (cranial nerve IV), and the abducens nerve (cranial nerve VI). Answered by Karl P - Sun Mar 22 00:20:04 2009 What effect do you think cartoons with adult humor have on kids?
Q. Just curious about what impact some of these cartoons with adult and sexual humor have on kids. I think it's fairly obvious that they are geared on getting kids to watch them while attracting an adult audience as well. Is this all right in your opinion? Or is this exposing kids to adult themes too early. Asked by Kermit - Tue Sep 11 22:32:09 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. My daughter was just 5yrs old when my 28 year ld brother wanted her to watch the simpsons. She said "Mom, I watched it because my uncle told me to, but I didn't like it at all. Please tell me I don't have to watch it again" Some kids have more sense than adults. The theatrical genre can be simply described as a dramatic performance pitting two societies against each other in an amusing agon or conflict. Comedy contains variations on the elements of surprise, incongruity, conflict, repetitiveness, and the effect of opposite expectations, and there are many recognized genres. Sourced
